Description

The Director of Development inspires our extended community to think expansively, generously, and strategically about our collective role in financially supporting our School.  This includes articulating and celebrating our non-profit mission and transformative educational environment, as well as the impact of our students on the world they will lead.  The Director of Development cultivates the relationships and secures the resources to make the School solvent and sustainable, overseeing all programs related to charitable giving, with special focus on the Annual Fund.   

The Director of Development works closely and collaboratively with our Head of School and other members of the Leadership Team to envision and lead School events, alumni gatherings, community-wide appreciations, and regular appeals for support.  The Director of Development builds relationships that will expand and enliven our constituents and discover capacity and interest among past, current, and future populations of staffulty, students, families, and friends.

Expectations include:

  1. Develop donor relations that result in significant and recurring financial support of the School, especially via the Annual Fund to support our operating budget each year
  2. Develop and diversify our gift vehicles, especially via planned giving/ estate planning
  3. Maintain and update constituent contact information and donor records
  4. Lead the Institutional Advancement Committee of the Board and Capital Campaigns
  5. Serve as a lead story-teller and proselyte, both internally and externally, to convey the strength and vitality of our program and the history and value of the School 
  6. Serve as a patient and invested conduit for donor feedback, query, or concern
  7. Collaborate closely with the CFO and Head of School to plan and execute a balanced budget

Requirements

  1. Demonstrated efficacy in non-profit fundraising, preferably in an educational context
  2. Knowledge of and commitment to ethical fundraising practices, tools, and tactics
  3. Eagerness to embrace the mission and values of a top-tier independent school

Salary & Benefits:

Competitive compensation package will be offered within a range (1) based on the applicant’s experience and (2) consistent with data published each year by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and our regional accrediting body, the Independent School Association of the Central States (ISACS).
